ABOUT TING

Shuting "Ting" Chen is experienced in various areas of immigration law, including asylum, removal defense, U visas, special immigrant juvenile status, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and naturalization matters.  She has represented clients before immigration courts and agencies, as well as the Board of Immigration Appeals, federal district courts, and federal circuit courts.  Her immigration experience includes assessing eligibility for relief; drafting motions, briefs, and appeals; reviewing and submitting immigration applications; assisting clients in gathering supporting evidence; appearing before immigration judges and officers; collaborating with psychological and country conditions experts; and advising criminal attorneys regarding the immigration consequences of convictions.

As an immigrant who came to the United States at the age of 9, Ting understands the challenges faced by immigrants, many of whom must leave behind their family and friends in their home countries, learn English, assimilate into society, find jobs, overcome trauma, and obtain lawful status.  As a law student at Harvard Law School, Ting completed over 1,000 hours of pro bono service, including many hundreds of hours of asylum work.  Years later, she remains passionate about her work, dedicated to her clients, and committed to pro bono work and community advocacy.
